MEET THE TEAM
Megan and Colby Garrelts are the executive chefs & owners of Rye Leawood and Rye Plaza. Chef Colby is a 2013 James Beard Foundation Best Chef Midwest award winner, a Semifinalist for Outstanding Chef from the James Beard Foundation and a 2005 Food & Wine Best New Chef. Chef Megan is a multiple James Beard Foundation Semifinalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef. Both chefs have had recipes featured in numerous local & national publications including; Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and Saveur to name a few. The Garrelts have also co-written & published two cookbooks with Andrew McMeel Publishing, bluestem, the cookbook and Made in America.

    Pre-order your holiday sweet treats from Rye, now accepting orders through New Year's Eve! Enjoy our handcrafted signature pies, cinnamon rolls, and cookies for your home celebration. The holiday order cut-off date is Saturday, December 24th. Pick-up dates may be scheduled from December 1st-31st, excluding 12/25 - The restaurant will be closed on Christmas Day.

    Join us for a special Holiday Tea at Rye on the Plaza as we celebrate the winter season! Pastry chef Megan Garrelts has created a menu featuring handmade savory and sweet selections paired with our collection of Hugo loose-leaf teas. The ticket price includes the sweet & savory menu, tea, and additional non-alcoholic beverages if desired. Wine & cocktails will be available for an additional fee during the tea service. The ticket price excludes sales tax and service charge.

    Join our talented team at Rye Plaza for our Holiday Cocktail Conversation & Tasting with Union Horse Distillery! Start with a holiday-themed cocktail to kick off the party. Then our team will be joined by Kyle Tuttle from Union Horse Distillery, who will lead a tasting of the delicious Union Horse portfolio and walk you through some cocktail ideas for the perfect holiday event, followed by another cocktail, all while nibbling on delicious snacks, handcrafted by our Executive Chef Jacob Moeller. Finally, like all good hosts, we will be sending you home with a basket filled full of goodies so you can create your own cocktails at home! Cheers!
