Our staff at Rye is dedicated to helping our clients with their private or special occasion dining arrangements. We strive to plan the perfect event from the moment we begin until the time that your guests depart making event planning a fun and hassle-free process. Our event team will gladly assist with every detail, from food to favors so you can be sure every event you plan is special. Our attention to detail and extraordinary care for your special event will make your experience at Rye a memorable occasion.

Whether you would like to entertain your guests with a whiskey tasting, host a large dinner event, or bring the Rye experience to your home or off-site destination we offer a number of possibilities.

Megan and Colby Garrelts are the chef-owners of Rye Leawood and Rye Plaza, as well as Bluestem, a 2015-2018 James Beard Semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurant, in Kansas City. Chef Colby is a 2013 James Beard Foundation Best Chef: Midwest award winner, 2005 Food & Wine Top 10 Best New Chef and has had his cuisine showcased in the Wall Street Journal and on the cover of Saveur Magazine. Chef Megan is a James Beard Semifinalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef 2017-2019 and her recipes have been featured in numerous national publications including Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Wall Street Journal and Saveur.

Bluestem opened in 2004 and showcases Colby’s progressive American cuisine and Megan’s new varieties of American desserts. In 2006, the Garrelts expanded Bluestem and opened a lounge next door to the dining room. With Bluestem, the Garrelts offer a flavorful toast to fine-dining and a marriage of outstanding culinary skills. Their first cookbook, bluestem, the cookbook, which was released in fall 2011, showcases the cuisine featured at the restaurant. In 2015, the Garrelts released their second cookbook, Made in America, which is an ode to the Midwestern cuisine they grew up eating and now serve.



Rye accepts reservations for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner daily in addition to walk-in diners.  

Saturday and Sunday brunch is from 9:30am – 3:00pm. Monday-Friday we offer breakfast and lunch from 9:30am-3pm. Dinner is served nightly Monday-Sunday beginning at 5:00pm.

Reservations are accepted by phone, online through Tock, or in person at the restaurant. A member of our service team will call 48 hours before the date of your reservation to confirm your table. Should any guest need to make changes to an existing reservation or cancel a reservation please call Rye directly at 816-541-3382. Rye does not have a specific dress code and it is a non-smoking establishment. Large party seating in the dining room may be limited depending on availability. The Tock online reservation system will not accept reservations for parties larger than 7 people. Tock & Rye management will require a credit card number on file for all large party reservations and the restaurant requires 48 hours / two (2) days notice of cancellation due to limited seating. Cancellation is held to the restaurant’s policy and may be subject to fees depending on the party size. Please contact the restaurant if you have questions about our policy. All credit card information will be processed securely. Please call Rye directly for reservations of parties of 7 or more. Both rye locations do not allow any outside food brought into the restaurant due to health code policies. Should your party be celebrating a special occasion our event managers may assist with specialty cake & dessert ordering if desired. Please allow 48 hours for custom dessert orders for dine-in or take home. 

Sidewalk seating is available daily weather permitting and guests are seated on a first come first serve basis. Reservations are not accepted for sidewalk seating.

Our Breakfast and Lunch Menu is offered Monday – Friday from 9:30am – 3:00pm.

Our Happy Hour is offered Monday-Friday from 3:00pm-6:00pm with seating in the bar only on a first come, first serve basis.

Our Midday Menu is offered Monday-Sunday from 3:00-5:00pm. Seating is first come, first serve and reservations are not accepted.

    Join us while our pastry chef, Keara walks you through the secrets of our delicious cinnamon rolls that you all know and love! Tickets include non-alcoholic drinks and a dozen mini cinnamon rolls with our cream cheese icing to finish at home for a perfect morning treat. Guests will also receive recipes and tips during the class.

    Saturday, December 19th

    Enjoy the holiday season with chef Keara to learn the secrets of decorating the perfect holiday cookies! We’ll have all the classic holiday cookie cutouts that you will get to decorate yourself.
    *Tickets include non-alcoholic drinks as well a special winter drink to keep you warm. Guests will receive sugar cookies to decorate along with recipes and tips during the class. The ticket price is per person and does not include tax or gratuity.
