We have options for private events within the restaurant, full restaurant buyouts, in home catering, and off-site destinations. The possibilities are endless as our intent & goal is dedicated hospitality that welcomes our clients and their guests for a most memorable occasion.


Megan and Colby Garrelts are the executive chefs & owners of Rye Leawood and Rye Plaza. Chef Colby is a 2013 James Beard Foundation Best Chef Midwest award winner, a Semifinalist for Outstanding Chef from the James Beard Foundation and a 2005 Food & Wine Best New Chef. Chef Megan is a multiple James Beard Foundation Semifinalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef. Both chefs have had recipes featured in numerous local & national publications including; Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and Saveur to name a few. The Garrelts have also co-written & published two cookbooks with Andrew McMeel Publishing, bluestem, the cookbook and Made in America.

    We are bringing back Drag Brunch, just in time for National Coming Out Day!

    Rye Plaza is hosting Miss Daisy Buckët & friends for brunch, drinks, and the best party before 4pm you'll ever attend! The ticket price includes the drag show, an All-You-Can-Eat Brunch Buffet, and a non-alcoholic beverage. Bottomless Mimosas, Deluxe Bloody Marys, and full bar options are available to purchase during the event. We couldn't be more excited to welcome some of the most legendary Queens in Kansas City to Rye Plaza, you won't want to miss this fabulous event!

    Autumn is our favorite season at Rye! Join us in the private dining room at Rye on the Plaza as we celebrate the changing of the leaves, cooler temps, and all things pumpkin spice. Pastry chef Megan Garrelts has created a menu featuring handmade savory and sweet selections paired with our collection of Hugo loose-leaf teas. The ticket price includes the savory & sweet menu, tea, and additional non-alcoholic beverages if desired. Wine & cocktails will be available for an additional fee during the tea service. The ticket price excludes sales tax and service charge.

    Cinnamon Roll Class
    November 12th 2pm-4pm $90 per ticket

    Join pastry chef Keara Masson, as she walks you through the secrets to our delicious cinnamon rolls at Rye! This hands-on class will feature our cinnamon roll recipe and tips to help you assemble your very own pan of cinnamon rolls to take & bake a dozen at home. Your cinnamon rolls will also include our classic cream cheese icing for finishing.

    Sunday evenings we feature Steak Night & Service Industry special at Rye Plaza! Enjoy our 3-course menu with your choice of soup or salad, steak option and a slice of pie.
